"You'll see here in the next week and bid openings on March 10," said a Public Works staff member, who reviewed recent plan revisions with Interstate Engineering. The staff member said the project’s completion date is currently set for Oct. 1 and that the contract will allow 90 days between a contractor’s start and finish date. To encourage competition and lower costs, staff said the city will permit phased sequencing — for example, completing concrete and utility service work early and paving later.
The committee asked about coordination with state work on the same corridor; the Public Works staff said crews completed a state DOT walkthrough and compiled a list of repairs that the city hopes to address in coming weeks. There was no formal vote; the item was presented as an informational update and staff said they will bring contractor recommendations and contract details to the full council for approval when bids are evaluated.
The committee adjourned the street portion of the meeting after asking whether there were public comments; none were offered.
