Glendive opens applications to fill vacant Ward 3 council seat, sets Jan. 20 deadline

The Glendive City Council voted to open the application process to fill a vacant Ward 3 seat and set a submission deadline of 4:00 p.m. on Jan. 20, 2026. Mayor Diane said applicants must submit a letter of interest, a resume and three references (names and phone numbers only) and must reside in Ward 3.

The personnel committee recommended declaring the seat open as of Jan. 1 and set the application window. "We're asking for resume and three references," Mayor Diane said, adding that applicants can deliver materials to the mayor's office at 300 South Marrow in Glendive or email mayor@glendivemt.gov. The mayor said three people had already expressed interest.

The council will forward qualified applicants to the personnel committee for interviews; the committee plans to bring its recommendation to the council at the Feb. 3 meeting so the council can make an appointment within the statutory timeframe. Council procedures discussed at the meeting clarified that members who did not attend a prior meeting may still vote to approve minutes if they have read them.
