Kensington council approves library grant, ethics appointments and vehicle actions

At its Feb. 12 meeting the Kensington Town Council unanimously approved a $40,000 FY25 contribution to the Noyes Children’s Library Foundation, reappointed two ethics commissioners, authorized donation of an aging Public Works truck to the County Students Automotive Trades Foundation, and approved purchase of a new 2025 Ford F-350 for $60,819.30.
The Kensington Mayor and Town Council voted unanimously Feb. 12 on several routine but budgetary and operational items.
The council adopted Resolution R-02-2025 to authorize a $40,000 contribution from the FY2024–2025 budget to the Noyes Children’s Library Foundation for restoration and renovation at Noyes Children’s Library. Council Member Lichter moved the measure; it passed unanimously.
The council confirmed mayoral appointments to the Town Ethics Commission by adopting Resolution R-03-2025, reappointing Deborah Eckert and Tina Sherman to two-year terms; Council Member Crimmins moved the resolution and it passed unanimously.
On equipment and operations, the council approved Resolution R-04-2025 to donate a surplus 2008 Ford F-250 (VIN 1FTNF21538EE35863) from the Public Works Department to the Montgomery County Students Automotive Trades Foundation (Thomas Edison High School of Technology). Town Manager Hoffman said the truck “needed significant repairs, and it is in the best interest to donate the vehicle to the Thomas Edison High School of Technology, as has been done in the past, and purchase a new vehicle.”
The council then adopted Resolution R-05-2025 authorizing purchase of a 2025 Ford F-350 for the Public Works Department under Bid Contract 0004504 awarded by Baltimore County to Apple Ford, LLC, at a price of $60,819.30; Council Member Bartram moved the measure and it passed unanimously. Council members also approved the Jan. 8 meeting minutes and the Jan. 24 closed-session minutes earlier in the meeting.
All listed motions were passed unanimously by the five-member council present.
