Kensington schedules Nov. 13 listening session on possible sale of Joseph Park

Town Manager Steve Hoffman asked the Town Council on Oct. 10 to establish a schedule for public comment on a possible sale of Joseph Park, 3420 Plyers Mill Road. The council agreed to hold a listening session at the Nov. 13 town meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. and to send a postcard to notify nearby residents.
The listening session, the council said, will provide information about future acquisitions and capital improvements in town and solicit community input before the council decides whether to introduce an ordinance to authorize a sale. Hoffman noted the last onsite meeting for the public on the topic was in March 2023.
Resident Zacharey Carmichael spoke against selling the park during the Oct. 10 discussion. The council did not take a formal vote on the sale at that meeting; the next procedural step is the scheduled Nov. 13 listening session, after which the council may deliberate on whether to introduce an ordinance.
