Pearisburg Council approves personnel policy change, festival agreement and engineering services renewal

At its April 14 meeting the Pearisburg Town Council approved several administrative and contractual items.
Personnel and boards: The Council adopted a revision to Section 7.02 (Progressive Discipline) of the Town Personnel Practices & Procedures after Town Manager Adam Poser described the revision and Town Attorney Hartley recommended removing a requirement to email transmittals to employees; Amanda Davis moved and Cathy Clark seconded the adoption, which passed 7-0.
Committee appointments and festival agreement: The Council appointed Stacie Whetzel to the Beautification Committee (motion by Zach Smith, seconded by Cathy Clark; vote 7-0) and approved the VA250 Mobile Museum Agreement for the Pearisburg Festival (motion by Cathy Clark, seconded by Amanda Davis; vote 7-0). The Council discussed forming an Appalachian Trail Committee to engage hikers and coordinate with property owners; Cathy Clark moved that Councilmember Zach Smith serve as chair; the motion carried with Smith abstaining (Yes: Dickerson, Eaton, Clark, Davis, Fields, Sharp).
Contracts: Town Manager Poser recommended renewing the Year 3 of a 4‑year renewal agreement with engineering firm Thompson & Litton, naming Chad Robertson as primary project manager; Cathy Clark moved and Kristi Eaton seconded approval and the Council voted 7-0.
