At its Feb. 10 meeting the Pearisburg Town Council recognized Dr. Pippa Chapman for more than 25 years of business in the community. Vice Mayor Kristi Eaton presented Dr. Chapman with a certificate on behalf of the Council.
The council noted that Dr. Chapman established one of the region's few female chiropractic practices in 1995, expanded her healthcare practice on Wenonah Avenue, purchased and managed downtown commercial property that later housed Specialty Auction LLC, and developed Angel's Rest Hikers Haven. The town noted the hostel occupies more than five acres and provides lodging, transportation and services for Appalachian Trail thru-hikers; the transcript states it has hosted more than 15,000 hikers to date.
Council members described the recognition as part of a Business Recognition Program that honors local businesses with more than 25 years of service to Pearisburg.
