The Pearisburg Town Council on March 10 accepted the FY2025 Audit, approved personal property tax refunds, and approved Budget Amendment FY2026-07, which includes funding for a HEAT Grant for police training and authorization for the Recreation Department to purchase pool chemicals in bulk.
Town Treasurer Hope Harrell commended staff for preparing audit documentation; Town Attorney James A. Hartley noted the town does not conduct formal internal audits prior to the external audit due to limited staffing and the specialized credentials required to perform such reviews. Council voted to accept the FY2025 Audit as presented.
The Council approved the personal property tax refunds as reported by the Town Treasurer. The Budget Amendment FY2026-07 was approved with six yes votes; Councilmember Zach Smith was recorded as abstaining on that item. Budget work sessions are scheduled to begin in April to review FY2026–27 priorities and grant opportunities, including a possible T-Mobile grant reapplication.
