Council tables Ripplemead dog-park proposal pending Giles County interest

Pearisburg councilmembers on March 10 discussed a proposal to accept a donated parcel in Ripplemead for use as a public dog park but agreed to table action while seeking clarity from Giles County on whether the county will pursue or support the project.
The Property & Recreation Committee reported approximately $3,600 had been raised so far. Giles County indicated interest in assisting with fencing, solar lighting and other improvements while the Town would assume maintenance responsibilities if it proceeds. Councilmember Gary Fields said the town will wait to see whether the County will lead the effort; if the County declines, the Council may consider returning donations to contributors or revisiting town-led development.
Council took no binding action and left the proposal pending official direction from County staff.
