Pearisburg amends parking requirements for office and bank buildings

Town Manager Adam Poser summarized staff review of minimum parking requirements and said some older buildings provide fewer spaces than the current code requires. The Planning Commission recommended the updates after reviewing modern utilization trends. Planning Commission Chair Cathy Clark recommended Council approve the ordinance.
Vice Mayor Kristi Eaton moved adoption and Councilmember Amanda Davis seconded. The motion carried 7-0. The ordinance text specifies the amended parking formula for office-type uses and took effect on the date of adoption, April 14, 2026.
The change is intended to align required parking with current usage patterns and reduce noncompliance by older structures; staff will apply the new standard in future reviews and permit approvals.
