Parksley council hears fall event schedule; approves $250 for Trunk-or-Treat supplies

The Parksley Town Council recorded several community-event updates on Aug. 12 and approved a small appropriation to support a Halloween outreach event.
Ellen Johnson of the ES Railway Museum announced a Tea Party in the dining car on Sept. 29 with two seatings (pricing provided), an Italian Night dinner on Oct. 19 (two seatings; $40), and the museum’s Old Fashioned Christmas on Dec. 6; she said the museum and town will coordinate a toy drive this year.
The council discussed a Trunk-or-Treat event scheduled for Oct. 31 from 5–7 p.m., including proposed street closures on Bennett Street and Dunne Avenue pending VDOT permit approval. Councilman Henry Nicholson moved to authorize Clerk Lauren Lewis to spend $250 on candy and supplies for a town trunk; Councilman Sam Welch seconded the motion and the council approved it.
Separately, the council confirmed the town’s Old Fashioned Christmas will be held on Dec. 6 beginning at 5 p.m., and the Town Clerk will handle the VDOT permit to close a section of Dunne Avenue for that event.
