Sheriff's office reports 127 calls in October for North Beach; DUI stop with weapons among incidents

A sheriff's office representative reported October public-safety activity to the North Beach Town Council on Nov. 13, saying deputies responded to 127 calls for service in the North Beach area, slightly fewer than the 131 calls reported in September.
"The sheriff's office responded to a 127 calls for service in the North Beach area," the representative said. The report listed 437 self-initiated activities (patrol checks, traffic stops and follow-ups). Notable incidents included a theft-from-vehicle on 2nd Street (cell phone taken; no lead reported), an October 22 DUI traffic stop on Bay Avenue where deputies discovered concealed weapons and made arrests, and an October 7 assault at an address on Frederick Avenue that was related to a burglary investigation.
The representative also described juvenile disorderly conduct on 5th Street, a report of child neglect on Sebring Court that is pending court action, and a reported violation of an ex parte order at an address on 7th Street, a location cited repeatedly in domestic calls. Deputies said arrests and charges were made where appropriate and that patrols were increased in affected areas.
The representative said a written, full report is available on the town website and offered to speak with residents after the meeting.
Council members had no substantial questions at the meeting; staff noted the full report is posted to board docs and the representative said he would remain available after the meeting.
