Parksley council agrees to draft water ordinance amendments on galvanized service pipes

Lewis told councilmembers that Dirk Lynch, the town’s waterworks operator (MSA), has offered to draft the necessary technical language for the proposed amendments. The council agreed that Lewis should proceed with the drafting and that the proposed changes would then be forwarded to the town attorney for legal review prior to publication.
Council discussion also produced a separate, related direction on homeowner water service installations: the council instructed the clerk to require homeowners to provide an upfront deposit equal to the subcontractor’s stated cost before work begins, with any remaining balance due when the service is completed. No ordinance amendments were adopted at the meeting; the water ordinance changes remain at the drafting and attorney-review stage.
