North Beach staff to review Chesapeake Beach plant billing; FY27 budget and CIP updates planned

Town Administrator Linda Vassallo told the council that staff are reviewing discrepancies between billing and budget charges from the Chesapeake Beach Water Reclamation Treatment Plant and will meet next week with the plant treasurer and administrator to clarify the charges and report back.
"We're digging through variances between billing and budget, and their operating and management reserve fund charges," Vassallo said, and she said the town will bring findings back to the council after the meeting with the plant's staff.
Veronica Atkinson, filling in for Treasurer Joanne Hunt, gave an interim finance update and described timing effects on revenue recognition for fiscal year reporting. Atkinson read the encumbered capital figure for the council and said staff will do first‑quarter billing for fiscal 2026 at the end of October; she noted the FY27 staff budget review is in progress and the council will see a CIP update at the November work session.
