Long-serving North Beach councilmember Paul resigns after selling home

Councilmember Paul announced at the July 17 meeting that he is resigning from the North Beach Town Council because he has sold his home and will move outside the town limits.
"This will be my final council meeting," Paul said, adding that the move was unexpected but he plans to remain involved in community events. Colleagues paid tribute to his eight years of service.
Mayor Benton and other councilmembers credited Paul with early pandemic planning—saying Paul helped develop a town plan about a month before COVID arrived in the U.S.—and with leading improvements to the town’s IT and communications systems. "He got us up and running," the mayor said, citing work to move the town to Microsoft and Comcast services and to organize IT infrastructure.
Council members said they will arrange a photo and gift for Paul and encouraged residents interested in local service to consider filling municipal roles. Paul said he would continue to attend events and support the town despite moving about 15 minutes away.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn, a brief photo opportunity and presentation of a gift for the departing councilmember.
