North Beach council approves lease with CalvertHealth for local clinic

The North Beach Town Council on July 17 approved a lease renewal with CalvertHealth that will keep outpatient and emergency clinic operations in the town’s facility, officials said.

Town Administrator Linda introduced Jeremy Bradford, president and CEO of CalvertHealth, and Marissa Goganzer, senior vice president of operations. Bradford described the clinic as central to CalvertHealth’s strategy to expand primary-care access, saying the organization recently added a third provider to help meet demand.

Bradford said the lease covers a 3,150-square-foot building used for outpatient and emergency medical services. The lease carries a fiscal impact for fiscal year 2025 of $7,142 and includes a 5% annual increase rider. The term runs through June 30, 2030, and includes three five-year renewal options. The town and CalvertHealth’s counsel reviewed and agreed to the terms before the council considered the matter.

Councilmember Paul moved to approve the lease; the motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote of the members present. No councilmembers registered a recorded roll-call opposition during the meeting. After the vote Bradford thanked the mayor and council for their support.

Council discussion was brief; one member confirmed the principal change from the prior agreement is the 5% annual escalation. Town officials said they are working with CalvertHealth to broaden resident awareness of services and noted the health system’s mobile unit has been visible in town.

The town administrator said residents can review the lease and supporting documents on the town’s boarddocs portal.
