Oakfield road supervisor reports chip-seal plans and driveway damage tied to wind turbine work

Road Supervisor Joe Schauer told the Oakfield Town Board on June 8 that recent routine maintenance is complete and that further surface work is planned.
Schauer reported minor road damage at one driveway entrance on Kinwood Road related to nearby wind turbine construction and said he would discuss repair and responsibility with the contractor, Barnhart. He said brush mowing along Prairie Road extended roughly 33 feet from the roadway using a Diamond rotary mower and that ditch mowing has begun using a Diamond flail mower.
The town has completed crack filling, Schauer said, and has scheduled wedging for August with chip sealing planned for September.
Second-side Supervisor Brad Sabel summarized a Wisconsin Towns Association meeting he attended and relayed reports from others: Sheriff Waldschmidt said the State Patrol building serving the area has closed, reducing local State Patrol presence; Highway Commissioner Janke reportedly told attendees chip-seal costs are expected to increase by approximately 40%, and that General Transportation Aid (GTA) is projected to increase by about 7% next year.
The board did not take formal action related to the road schedule at the meeting but discussed follow-up steps for contractor coordination and planned maintenance.
