The Andover Select Board voted on June 26 to hold a special election on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Andover Town Hall to fill the third open Select Board seat. The motion was made by Chair Brian Mills, seconded by Select Board member Frederick Detheridge, and carried.
Town Clerk Melinda Averill told the board that a 45-day timeline for nominations would place the deadline on Aug. 9, and that the town could instead choose a 24-day timeline. Mills and Detheridge said they preferred the 45-day period to give potential candidates more time to take out and return nomination papers. Clerk Averill said she would prepare nomination papers and announce availability and due dates.
The board did not specify nomination deadlines or post the finalized schedule during the meeting; the clerk is responsible for publishing nomination materials and deadlines under state election rules.
