Wallington council approves consent agenda including payments, appointments and roadwork bills

The Borough of Wallington Mayor and Council approved its consent agenda June 18 by a single roll-call motion, clearing payments, contract progress payments and several personnel appointments.
The motion, made by Councilman Eugeniusz Rachelski and seconded by Councilwoman Justyna Marciniak, passed with four ayes (Rachelski, Marciniak, Sylwia Hejzner and Council President Dennis Graham); Councilmembers Susanne Preinfalk and John Kosuda were absent. Items approved "en masse" included Resolution 2026-196 (authorizing payment of bills) and Resolution 2026-197 (memorializing payments from the check register). The council also approved Progress Payment No. 6 to Daskal LLC for additions and interior alterations to the Wallington municipal building and Payment No. 2 to Smith-Sondy Asphalt Construction Company for the Reservoir Avenue roadway improvements, a project funded in part through CDBG.
The council appointed Alysha Curtin as the 2026 Recreation Summer Camp Director, appointed Borough Administrator Jennifer Appice as Shade Tree Commission Coordinator, and reinstated Casey Kimmel as Recycling Coordinator. The council also approved Resolution 2026-201 authorizing the borough administrator to sign an agreement with Bergen County regarding plowing of county roads within the borough.
Council also approved Resolution 2026-195 authorizing the council to convene in closed session under the Open Public Meetings Act to discuss matters related to litigation, negotiations and employment. Borough Attorney Mark Dipisa told the council that formal action may be taken after the closed session when confidentiality is no longer required.
The meeting minutes show the governing body referred prior communications to appropriate committees and agencies and approved minutes from May 7, May 21 and June 4, 2026 (Councilwoman Marciniak abstained on the June 4 minutes).
