Platte County Commission approves $50,000 security grant, multiple maintenance contracts and a rezoning

Captain Shanks presented a subaward agreement with the Missouri Department of Public Safety for the Missouri Blue Shield grant program and told commissioners the county's application was accepted for a $50,000 reimbursement grant to fund software and related equipment to enhance Flock cameras. "We have been approved for the $50,000, reimbursement grant to move forward on this," he said. The commission approved the subaward (2025CO153).
The commission also approved an MOU to fund a regional radio system consultant coordinated through the Mid-America Regional Council; Platte County's one-time share is $5,021.74 and the amount is in the 2025 budget (2025CO155). Routine annual maintenance contracts were approved for HVAC and generator services (2025CO156), the NICE Inform recorder that logs radio and telephone traffic (2025CO157, budgeted at $12,476.88 in 2026), and UPS maintenance with Eaton Corporation (2025CO158).
County Administrator Wes Minder described a memorandum of understanding with the county's Senior Services Fund to place its employees under the county's health plans, with the senior fund paying premiums so there is "no net fiscal impact to the county." Commissioners approved the MOU (2025CO159).
The planning and zoning director presented a rezoning request from Greg and Kimberly Knapp to change 40 acres from agricultural to R-80 single-family zoning to create a 10-acre and a 30-acre lot near Bethel Road; the planning commission had unanimously recommended approval and the county commission approved the rezoning (2025CO149).
Finally, the commission approved the prosecuting attorney's annual contract with the state to collect delinquent child support (2025CO154); the prosecutor noted the contract has no county budget impact and praised his child support unit's recent clean audit.
All votes on the listed items were recorded as carry 2-0 during the meeting.
