Deputy Director Zach Hovener introduced Theresa Lee as the city’s new REDI (equity, diversity and inclusion) program administrator; Lee said she joined Redmond on July 1 and described her background in education and learning sciences and her interest in relationship‑building and embedding REDI principles into daily practice.
"My hope is that the work we do internally creates a ripple effect that is reflected in the experience of residents, businesses, and community members throughout the city," Lee said.
Communications Manager Kelly Schutz then presented the proposed 2027–28 comprehensive communications plan, which documents platform goals, social‑media strategy and an expanded equity and accessibility section. Schutz said the plan formalizes practices already used by the division and proposes council‑facing tools such as a monthly council roundup and expanded social content to increase resident access to council communications. Council members asked for a future touchpoint to discuss council‑facing tools and for clearer criteria about which messages appear on which social platforms.
What happens next: Staff will schedule follow‑up conversations on council communications and integrate council feedback into a future plan revision.
