Support team lead (S5) and Administrator (S6) gave a fundraising update for the Randy Marsh strength and conditioning center project, describing a campaign that has raised about 91% of the target but remains roughly $25,000 short of the revised total. S5 summarized that equipment costs and tariffs had pushed the project total to $277,414 and that several community donors had pledged support, some over multi-year schedules.
S5 said donors and staff prefer proceeding now to lock equipment prices and avoid further inflation and tariffs. “We feel like the best financial decision to move forward is to make that purchase before the costs go up,” S5 said, and added the equipment vendor agreed to hold purchased equipment for six months if necessary.
Board members asked whether flooring could be postponed and equipment stored; staff said equipment procurement timelines are longer and flooring could be purchased later. The project team recommended the district use Fund 49 to front the invoice and record a liability until pledge payments arrive. Several donors and community partners were named in discussion as contributing to the campaign.
A motion to approve spending the project total in the packet ($277,414) with the district recording a pledge liability and continuing fundraising was made and seconded. The board approved the motion on a roll-call vote. Staff will continue the fundraising push to cover the approximately $25,000 shortfall and return updates on progress and installation timing.
