New London board approves Bulldog Stadium bathroom and concession project, authorizes contingency

The New London School District board on Wednesday approved a construction contract to build bathrooms and a concession building at Bulldog Stadium, accepting a bid from RGM Construction and authorizing contingency spending to cover additional sewer lateral work.

Joel Marquardt, a facilities committee member introduced by staff, reviewed the committee’s recommendation and the packet materials, saying the base RGM proposal was $191,286 and that the district requested a not‑to‑exceed authorization of $275,000 to allow funds to be used for sewer laterals and related finishing work. “If approved tonight, we would work on getting a PO to RJM and getting our building permit from the city,” Marquardt said.

Board members asked about incidental items such as electrical power, refrigeration for concession coolers and the need to relocate an existing storage building (an old press box). Trustees discussed finalizing selections for the plumber and electrician and ensuring logistics if construction begins before the first football game.

A motion to approve the project moved, was seconded and passed by the board in a recorded vote; those present voted in favor. District staff said the project will be funded from Fund 46 and that the larger not‑to‑exceed amount would allow the district to cover laterals and other expected incidentals without returning for another appropriation.

The board directed staff to proceed with permit applications and purchase orders and to keep trustees updated on scheduling and logistics during construction.
