Mayor called the July 13, 2026 regular meeting to order and opened with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance before moving to special presentations.
Two new hires, Tyler Todhunter and Jacob Schock, each took the firefighter oath to 'serve the citizens of Fairfield, Ohio' and were welcomed by council. Mayor presented badges and offered congratulations as the council marked their formal entry into city service.
The council then recognized Chris (S13), described at the meeting as a local bike restorer active on social media who refurbishes bikes and donates proceeds to animal shelters. Chris told council, 'Since March 3, I'm just under $30,000 that he's raised to support the animals.' The mayor presented Chris with a key to the city in recognition of that work.
Council members and staff also read sections of the Declaration of Independence as part of a 250th-anniversary observance, an event Council member Myers organized to mark the nation’s semiquincentennial.
The meeting moved next to citizen comments and agenda business.
