The Afton Town Council voted to renew the lease agreement with the Afton Child Development Center on a year‑to‑year basis, with authority to renew up to 10 years provided the renewal complies with current grant requirements.
Town Administrator Hyun Kim presented the lease, which expires Sept. 1, 2016. Councilman Jason C. Inskeep moved to approve yearly renewals not to exceed 10 years if the terms remain within grant requirements; Councilman Bill Hoopes seconded the motion and it carried.
Mr. Kim also briefed the council on the Afton Cemetery, noting it is the only cemetery in Lincoln County not organized as a cemetery district. He presented information about forming and establishing a cemetery district and introduced a proposed flower and decoration policy. The council agreed to inform citizens about the possibility of creating a cemetery district and to continue reviewing the decoration policy before taking action.
The council did not set specific dates for public outreach or ballot actions related to forming a cemetery district during this meeting.
