Sheridan council adopts amended zoning ordinance in unanimous vote

The Town of Sheridan council unanimously approved the second reading of Ordinance 127, amending the town’s zoning map, at its Nov. 24, 2025 special meeting.
Councilmember Jan Bowey summarized the amendments recommended at the first reading and explained the council’s direction for the Zoning Commission to move forward with zoning implementation, amendments, appeals, management and related forms. The council discussed the balance of commercial and low-density residential designations and considered lower side setbacks for R3 lots to accommodate smaller lots in low-density areas.
Councilmember Diane Kaatz moved to approve the second reading of Ordinance 127 as amended; Councilmember Russ Hamilton seconded. The motion carried on a vote of all ayes. The council directed the Zoning Commission to continue work on implementation details and to prepare forms and procedures for appeals and exceptions, including referral to use tables and council review for exceptions to property use.
The adopted amendments set the zoning map changes for the town and initiate a next phase of administrative implementation by the Zoning Commission and town staff.
