Sheridan council approves zoning appointment, two resolutions and a new work truck

At the Nov. 10 meeting the Town of Sheridan council acted on several New Business items, approving an appointment, two resolutions and a vehicle purchase.
Council Member Tamara Todd moved to accept the County Commissioners’ recommendation and approve Shawna Van Houten to the Zoning Commission; Council Member Diane Kaatz seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The council then adopted Resolution 2025‑17, a revised Employee Safety Policy that the minutes say was recommended in part by MMIA and the Montana Department of Labor and Industry; employees will be required to read and sign the updated policy. Diane Kaatz moved to adopt the resolution, Tamara Todd seconded, and the vote carried unanimously.
The council also adopted Resolution 2025‑18, the MCEP Planning Grant Water Pre‑Engineering Report. Mayor Stump described the project and its cost of $30,000, of which the Town will pay $6,000. Council Member Tamara Todd moved to adopt the resolution and Jan Bowey seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
On a separate motion the council approved the purchase of a 2026 GMC Sierra work truck. Mayor Stump recommended trading in the 2015 maroon Ford (while still operable) and putting a 2017 Ford up for auction because its transmission had failed. Diane Kaatz moved to approve the purchase; Tamara Todd seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
