Berry said the project implements recommendations from the 2023 recreation master plan and requires coordination with state permitting for signs on state roads.
Councilors praised the effort as a way to knit together disparate trail segments. Councilor Jones suggested providing interim downloadable maps while multi‑year sign installations and permitting proceed; Berry said the project is expected to be multiyear because some signs need state permits.
Councilor Pacino moved the resolution to authorize the town manager to accept the grant; the motion was seconded by Councilor Jones and passed by roll call (8–0).
