Blakely council accepts bills, hears budget timeline and county notices

Blakely Borough Council on Sept. 15, 2025 approved bills presented for payment: General Payable $141,672.42 and Electric Payable $31,385.26. The finance committee had reviewed the bills and Council accepted them by motion (moved by Joseph Munley, seconded by Edward J. Alco Jr.; all ayes).
At the Sept. 10 public work session, Borough Secretary Christopher R. Paone read correspondence from Keystone Sanitary Landfill offering $56.00 per ton for garbage service in 2026. The PA Liquor Control Board notified the borough of Liquor and Malt Beverage License Fees for Feb. 1 to July 31, 2025; the notice was read at the Sept. 15 meeting.
Controller Carlo Celli said the borough will begin work on the 2026 budget at the start of October. The Mine Cave Commission reported all mine openings and voids were secure as of Sept. 15, 2025; council accepted the report.
Council took these items as routine financial and administrative business; no additional funding allocations or budget line items were authorized at these meetings.
