Mason Consolidated Schools honors staff and students, accepts resignations and grants tenure

The Mason Consolidated Schools Board of Education on Nov. 13, 2025 recognized staff members and a senior honored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, accepted personnel resignations and noted recent tenure decisions.
Leski Wittman Insurance Agency sponsored the Staff Member of the Month honors: Shawna Lucarelli, high school mathematics teacher, was named September Staff Member of the Month, and Todd Hodge, CTE construction trades teacher, was named October Staff Member of the Month. Senior Zhuoran Cai was recognized as a Commended Student in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program and presented with a Letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation; the minutes also note Zhuoran received a BCSN Spotlight Scholar $1,000 scholarship and will be featured Dec. 14–Jan. 4 on BCSN.
The superintendent’s report recorded that Christopher Brown and Kristen Donnelly reached tenure. The board accepted the resignation of Heather Spagnol, an IF aide, and accepted Cheyln Welling’s resignation; Welling will join the Nutrition Group as a director-in-training. The superintendent also noted that a state energy audit (similar to the state facilities assessment) will be released soon and that maintenance staff will attend a webinar to prepare for interpreting that information.
Student council representatives Molly Sepulveda (high school) and Madeline Kolbe (middle school) shared updates on student council activities. The minutes list upcoming board meetings and administrative written reports available on the district website.
The board will meet next on Dec. 3, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Mason Senior High School Library.
