S2 described a proposed plate-settler capital project to improve basin processing and winter operations, with a projected cost of $645,000. She told the board there is roughly $1.2 million in state direct funding available that could be applied; engineering and coordination with the AIA mapping process were requested before proceeding.
On sludge, S2 said the town received a quote from Waste Management to remove sludge using a centrifuge and haul it to a landfill for about $300,000, and the board declined that option. She said land application remains the current practice and staff will continue to look for cost-effective alternatives.
S2 also outlined smaller but operationally important items: filter-rehab work quoted around $53,000, chemical-feed-pump spares at approximately $3,500 each, and a planned SCADA second-phase rollout to consolidate monitoring and control systems.
