Mason Consolidated Schools board adopts several resolutions, opts out of 31aa funds

At its Nov. 13 meeting the Mason Consolidated Schools Board of Education adopted a 2026 Technology Enhancement Millage Resolution and additional resolutions (PowerSchool litigation, Great Lakes Football League), approved personnel actions and voted to opt out (deny) 31aa funds; all votes were recorded 5-0 with two members absent.
The Mason Consolidated Schools Board of Education on Nov. 13, 2025 adopted a package of resolutions and approved several personnel actions during a meeting at Mason Senior High School Library.
The board adopted the 2026 Technology Enhancement Millage Resolution, a PowerSchool litigation resolution and a Great Lakes Football League resolution. After a closed session, the board also adopted a resolution to opt out (deny) 31aa funds. All recorded roll-call votes on those measures were 5-0 in favor, with Board Members Fowler and Smith listed as absent.
Motion and roll-call details were recorded in the minutes. The 2026 Technology Enhancement Millage Resolution passed on a motion by Board Member Grodi, supported by Board Member Nehrig. The PowerSchool litigation resolution passed on a motion by John Waller, supported by Board Member Grodi. The Great Lakes Football League resolution passed on a motion by Board Member Grodi, supported by John Waller. The opt-out (deny) 31aa funds resolution was moved by Board Member England, supported by Board Member Nehrig; the minutes record Waller-Yes, Fowler-Absent, Otting-Yes, England-Yes, Grodi-Yes, Smith-Absent, Nehrig-Yes.
The board also approved personnel items during the meeting: Kelly Burnside was approved as a bus aide at $14.85 per hour, on a motion by Board Member England supported by John Waller; the board approved CTE teacher Todd Hodge’s attendance at the Michigan Career Education Conference scheduled Jan. 25–27, 2026, in Grand Rapids on a motion by John Waller supported by Board Member Grodi. Both motions carried on recorded voice/roll-call as noted in the minutes.
The board met in closed session under "Section 8(h) to consider material exempt from discussion or disclosure by state or federal statute." The minutes record the board entered closed session at 6:40 p.m. and returned at 7:14 p.m.
The board approved the consent agenda earlier in the meeting, including the Oct. 1, 2025 meeting minutes and the October 2025 check register. The next regularly scheduled meeting is set for Dec. 3, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Mason Senior High School Library.
