Students thank board for musical; board member Kelly Roach announces she will not seek re-election

At the beginning of the Feb. 24 Northland Pines School District board meeting, high-school cast members and staff presented highlights from their production of Something Rotten and thanked the board and community volunteers for sustained support.

Several senior cast members spoke directly to the board. "Music School's been a great family for me for 5 years now," said Maddie (S2), one of the student cast members, describing how the program developed her confidence and relationships. Owen (S6) said the musical “provided such an opportunity” and thanked staff who pushed him to improve.
During board reports that followed, board member Kelly Roach (S10) announced she will not seek re-election and thanked trustees for their service and commitment to students. Roach said she is grateful for the experience and expressed appreciation for colleagues and community members who support district programs.
The board acknowledged the musical presentation and Roach’s announcement with applause and thanks. No formal action related to the musical or the announcement was required; the board proceeded to the remainder of the agenda.
