The Northland Pines School District Board on Feb. 24 approved two charter-school contracts, a facilities repair and a district service agreement in motions brought forward and seconded by board members during the regular meeting.
The board voted to renew five-year contracts for Soar High School and the Northland Pines Montessori Learning Center, effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030, as presented. Trustee S12 moved the motion and S1 seconded. Administration said the contracts include the state-required benchmarks and will be submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for review.
Also on the consent agenda, the board approved a proposal from Republic Services (Hugo River, Wis.) for district trash and recycling service after the finance committee conducted an RFP process and a company representative answered questions during the meeting.
Trustees approved a chip-seal proposal from Pitlick and Wake Inc. of Eagle River, Wis., for $258,042 to resurface the middle- and high-school parking lots. The payment was set to be split across the 2024–25 and 2025–26 budgets. S12 moved to approve the contract; S1 seconded, and the motion carried. District staff said they sought multiple bids and recommended the local firm based on quality and past work.
The motions were recorded on the meeting record as made and seconded; the transcript shows voice affirmation of approval but does not include a roll-call tally for each item. The contracts and facilities work will proceed under the terms specified in board materials, and the charter contracts will be forwarded to DPI for formal review and approval.
Next steps: contract documents will be filed as required with state authorities and procurement teams will coordinate scheduling for the chip-seal project and vendor onboarding for district trash service.
