Police, code enforcement and public works reports: nuisance hearing postponed; stop-sign camera contract pending

Interim Chief of Police Elnos Gomez briefed the council on public-safety items in September and early October.
Chief Gomez reported the Prince George's County Nuisance Abatement Board hearing concerning violations at 6545 Annapolis Road was postponed on Oct. 17 and said a new hearing date has not been scheduled. He discussed enforcement coordination with the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) and local noise-ordinance concerns. Gomez also recounted a car rally that assembled at the Pep Boys on Annapolis Road on Oct. 17 and dispersed when police arrived.
The chief said he is awaiting a revised contract from the Obvio Company for stop-sign cameras before sending it to the town attorney for review. Gomez also updated the council that holiday wreaths and banners have been ordered and that installation quotes are pending.
Code Enforcement Officer Michael Thompson reported he has received no substantive response from the Community Shopping Center about vendors trespassing on the property; while Chief Gomez provided a template enforcement authorization letter to the property manager, Thompson said a signed authorization enabling town enforcement remains outstanding. Thompson also said he sent his proposed changes to the Town's snow removal code to the town attorney for review.
Public Works Supervisor Jim Schad reported several quotes to repaint the Town Hall exterior, that public works trucks have entered winter maintenance, and that he discussed commingling of regular trash and recycling with Bates Trucking.
The reports were received as informational; no enforcement action, signed contracts, or ordinance amendments were recorded in the minutes during the Oct. 21 meeting.
