Commissioner Doug Larson told the Okauchee Lake Management District on March 17, 2025, that tax keys tied to properties in the former Town of Oconomowoc must be updated before the December tax bills are issued because of a recent municipal merger. Larson said he will contact Candace White to inquire about updated tax-key information.
Commissioner Brian Sichi suggested the district perform a riparian owner reconciliation, noting that the district’s fees are calculated based on owner counts. Accountant Pat Furno agreed that reconciling ownership would be beneficial to ensure fee accuracy.
Larson also raised a separate environmental concern: "There is an invasive organism on Moose Lake. If there is run off, it is invasive and it will cause issues if it gets into our lake," he said, urging the board to monitor the situation. The district added "Discuss & Act on Moose Lake" to future agendas for follow-up.
Chair Tom Godar reported receiving an insurance check to repair a barge that was damaged in a windstorm but said it was unclear whether the payment was partial. The board placed the barge repair and the unclear insurance payment on the next meeting agenda for clarification.
Other operational items slated for future meetings include the aquatic plant management report and final approval of Nov. 11, 2024 minutes. The board also asked that future 2025 meeting dates and current water levels be added to the district website and asked Commissioner Larson to research wake-boat guidelines for possible inclusion in the newsletter.
The district's next meeting is scheduled for April 21, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.
