Okauchee Lake district approves treasurer's report, routine payments and a barge-use policy

The Okauchee Lake Management District voted unanimously April 21 to accept the treasurer's report, approve routine payments and meeting minutes, and to restrict use of district barges to community fireworks displays with insurance requirements.
Treasurer Doug Larson reported total revenues of $403,999.90 and expenditures of $29,359.27 for the period ending March 31, 2025, leaving a budgeted balance of $374,640.63. Commissioner Bruce Mueller moved to accept the report and Commissioner Brian Sichi seconded; the motion carried without objection.
Accountant Pat Furno noted an $8,269 line item for worker's compensation with SFM Mutual Insurance when the board considered approving checks and vouchers. Sichi moved to approve payments submitted from March 17 through April 21, 2025; Mueller seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board approved minutes for Nov. 11, 2024 and March 17, 2025 after separate motions. Mueller moved to approve the Nov. 11, 2024 minutes; Sichi seconded. Sichi moved to approve the March 17, 2025 minutes; Doug Larson seconded. Both motions passed unanimously.
On barge use, T. Godar said the district's barges should be available for community Fourth of July fireworks displays but not for private events. Commissioner Sichi moved that barges may be used for the community fireworks display provided the sponsor or fireworks company presents satisfactory proof that OLMD is named as an additional insured at least 30 days before the event; Larson seconded. The board approved the motion unanimously. Resident Stacey Heineke noted her husband operates the fireworks company that provides the Okauchee Lake show.
Next steps: the district will implement the insurance requirement and will schedule follow-up items, including a review of goose-roundup policy at the May meeting.
