Middlesex board sets joint work session with supervisors on high school renovation

The Middlesex County School Board announced a joint work session with county supervisors on Wednesday, July 22, at the historic courthouse to discuss renovations to Middlesex High School. The chair said the session will include a presentation by the architect who has been engaged in master planning for the project.

"We've been working on this for about 5 years now, and so it's time to move to the next phase," the chair said, describing the board's informal recommendation for "option 6," a plan that combines renovation with a new build for part of the school. The chair said the board has met individually with supervisors Reggie Williams and Bill Harris to address concerns and hopes the supervisors will add the item to their agenda so the process can proceed.

Board members emphasized that the architect's presentation will include renderings to show how the building might look, while recognizing that designs and the process will change as the project advances. No formal vote on the renovation plan took place at the meeting; the item was framed as preparation for the upcoming joint session and for additional design work.
