Landover Hills council approves Town Hall holiday decorations in 5–1 vote

The Landover Hills Town Council voted 5–1 on Oct. 7 to approve the purchase of exterior holiday decorations for Town Hall.
Councilman Joe Williams moved to approve the purchase of banners, mounting hardware and a wreath for the Town Hall exterior; Councilman Todd Over seconded. The motion passed with votes in favor from Mayor Jeffrey Schomisch, Williams, Over, Councilmember Mike Walker and Councilmember Glenda Johnson. Vice Mayor Jeannette Ripley was the lone dissenting vote. Chief of Police Elnos Gomez, who presented the proposal, will obtain additional information on installation charges.
The vote occurred during the Council’s workshop meeting after Chief Gomez reviewed items in the proposal packet and answered questions from the Mayor and Council. No ordinance or appropriation was recorded in the meeting minutes in conjunction with the purchase motion; the minutes reflect a majority approval of the purchase itself. The council then continued with its regular business.
