Town Manager says trash toters will be bought in small batches; council hears plan for volunteer compost collection

During the Aug. 5 Town Council workshop, Town Manager Rommel Pazmino updated the council on logistics related to the town’s Bates trash-collection contract. Pazmino said replacement trash toters (collection bins) will be ordered "ten to fifteen at a time" and stored at Town Hall because Bates cannot provide storage; as a result, toter replacements will be purchased in small amounts over time.
Mayor Jeffrey Schomisch described plans Bates discussed for compost collection: a large outdoor tote and a small indoor container to support a volunteer-run composting collection program. Schomisch said information on the volunteer program and the indoor/outdoor toters will be included in the town newsletter. The council also discussed posting information about an "Outlaw Kitties" round-up in the newsletter.
No formal motion or contract amendment was recorded during the workshop; the discussion centered on procurement logistics, volunteer program outreach and newsletter notification responsibilities.
