Council unanimously nominates Chad Toomin to Brazoria Central Appraisal District board seat

Staff told the council a vacancy on the Brazoria Central Appraisal District Board had opened following the death of George Sanders and said the taxing entities must nominate a candidate to fill the seat. Councilmember Roca nominated Chad Toomin, a former councilmember and long‑time local board participant; Toomin came to the podium and accepted the nomination.
“I’m very honored for the nomination and would happily accept,” Toomin said when asked to speak. Councilmember Patel and other members expressed support, the council voted first to amend the resolution to add Toomin and then to adopt the amended motion; both votes were recorded 7–0.
Staff noted the remaining directors of the appraisal district will select among nominees; the council’s action nominates Toomin as the city’s candidate for the vacancy.
