District names liaison with DNR, moves to extend aquatic plant management plan through 2027

The Okauchee Lake Management District on Aug. 12 moved forward on planning work to update its aquatic plant management strategy and named a liaison to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Dee Schriver, a commissioner, said she introduced Commissioner John Foley to Heidi Bunk, a DNR Water Resources Management Specialist, and that Foley will serve as the district liaison. The board directed Foley to work with Bunk on modifications to the current aquatic plant management plan to extend the plan’s scope to cover 2025–2027.
Commissioners also agreed to place on the October agenda a suggestion from Tom Steinbach to obtain a schematic diagram of septic-system locations around Okauchee Lake and discussed attending a future meeting of the Waterford Waterway Management District to explore coalition-building with other lake-management entities.
The board set the annual meeting for Aug. 26, 2024 and the next regular meeting for Oct. 14, 2024, when follow-up items including the septic schematic and plan modifications can be addressed.
