Fayette County schools to hold classes Feb. 13 and Feb. 16 to make up winter-weather instructional days

Superintendent Don McPherson explained that the district missed 10 instructional days during the 2025–2026 school year and had eight stockpile days available, leaving two additional makeup days required. The Board approved makeup days on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, and Monday, Feb. 16, 2026 (President's Day). Vacation schedules will be adjusted accordingly.
Board members discussed staffing availability, transportation logistics and past use of Saturday makeup days before voting to approve the recommended schedule. Kevin Powers moved the motion, which Warner Speakman seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
