Ford updates Fayette County school board on BlueOval-area investments, workforce programs

Marianne Dunavant, Ford Community Relations, told the Fayette County Board of Education on Feb. 9 that Ford remains committed to long-term investment in West Tennessee even as the Tennessee Truck Plant transitions toward gas-powered truck production.
Dunavant described workforce development and supplier development efforts tied to the plant and said Ford's Good Neighbor Plan — which funds local initiatives such as home-improvement and rental assistance, transportation services (including a Catch a Ride program) and support for Fayette County Public Schools — has exceeded the company's original commitment in the area around BlueOval City. She said Ford tailors programs to local needs within roughly a 15-mile radius of the project.
Board Member Kevin Powers highlighted Ford's support of the Fayette County 4-H Program through the University of Tennessee Extension Office and noted that Ford scholarships enable approximately 30 students to attend 4-H camp each year. Dunavant said those investments align with Ford's stated priorities including environmental stewardship, public safety, community spaces and equity and access.
Superintendent Don McPherson invited continued updates from Ford to the Board.
