At the Policy Committee meeting on Jan. 15, members completed a second reading of Fiscal Management Policies (Series 2.100–2.900) and approved recommended revisions for Board consideration. Revisions emphasized stronger mandatory language (replacing 'will' with 'shall'), corrected grammar and aligned policy language with Tennessee School Boards Association recommendations. The committee approved the fiscal policies for Board consideration.
The committee also conducted a first read of Business and Operations Policies (Series 3.100–3.602), covering safety, crisis management, threat assessment, security, facilities, transportation, food service, insurance and workers' compensation, and recommended forwarding those policies to the Board for first reading after review by the Tennessee School Boards Association. The committee separately approved forwarding a proposed revision to Policy 2.904 regarding employee reimbursements for Board consideration.
Why it matters: Revised fiscal and operational policies set administrative expectations for budgeting, purchasing, payroll and vendor relations and will shape how the district manages funds and risk. The committee approved changes for Board consideration; the full Board will consider adoption in a future meeting.
