Stevensville board approves claims, tech wage hike and contract; tables sinking‑fund decision and one enrollment

The Stevensville School District board approved a package of routine financial and personnel items at its regular meeting and postponed a few decisions for further review.

The board voted to approve November claims totaling $136,256.79 and October student accounts totaling $12,742.55. Chair presented the claims and the motion to approve carried on a voice vote.

On personnel matters the board approved a pay increase for the district’s technology support staff member, raising Caleb Knudson’s hourly wage to $20 from approximately $18.42. A public commenter praised Knudson’s work, saying he “bent over backwards, to help us even though he’s only 1 person on staff.” The board also approved an adult‑education coordinator contract for Mike Mickelson, with trustees voting in favor by voice vote.

The board moved policy 3600 F‑1 (annual FERPA notification/process) and form 3600 F‑2 to a second reading for consideration at a future meeting.

Two items were tabled for the Dec. 17 special meeting. Trustees delayed action on reinvesting a maturing sinking‑fund CD (the maturity date was stated as Dec. 15) to allow additional input. The board also tabled consideration of one high‑school out‑of‑district enrollment application until the special meeting to allow a trustee who called in to review confidential materials.

On elementary out‑of‑district enrollments the board sustained the administration’s recommendation to deny one application because the grade was full (ID ending 216) and approved admission for another student (ID ending 101); the recorded outcome for those elementary items was four votes in favor and none opposed.

The board scheduled a special meeting for Dec. 17 to revisit tabled items and to continue evaluation discussions.
