Mason Board approves energy assessment, iPad purchase, staff travel and multiple policy updates

At its Oct. 1, 2025 meeting, the Mason Consolidated Schools Board of Education approved a package of administrative actions, voting unanimously on each item.
The board accepted an agreement with Trane Technologies for a comprehensive energy assessment (motion by Board member Fowler; supported by Board member Waller) and approved the purchase of 25 Apple iPads and cases for elementary classrooms at a total cost of $25,373.75, to be paid from Technology Enhancement Millage funds (motion by Waller; supported by Fowler). The board also approved staff travel: Abby Kohler to the Michigan World Language Conference in Lansing (Oct. 23–24) and Courtney Hammond to the MSBO Facilities and Operations Conference (Oct. 5–7).
Policy actions included approval of Thrun Law Firm recommended revisions (3201A, 4105B, 5407) and earlier-considered policy revisions (3110, 3115, 3115A, 3118, 3407, 4407, 4408, 5411, 5701, 5712) as listed in the consent agenda. The board also voted to intentionally leave Policy 3121 blank. Personnel actions included acceptance of the resignation of CES aide Sharon Gaverick and approval to hire Haleigh Edmonds as a CES IF aide at $14.85 per hour, pending favorable background checks.
All motions listed in the minutes were recorded as carried 4-0. The minutes note the state passed a continuation budget but said that does not yet change district funding; administrators said they are monitoring the situation.
