Officials said the project represents a significant capital investment in Dothan’s economic-development infrastructure. A motion to approve the final contract was made, seconded and carried without recorded opposition.
“It's another great asset for those and an asset that can generate revenue,” a commissioner said during the discussion, noting the facility’s potential to draw visitors and support local businesses.
The resolution closing the contract (Resolution 2026-180) completes construction accounting and authorizes any remaining administrative steps needed to finalize the city’s obligations to the contractor. No vote tally by named commissioner was recorded in the public transcript; the commission approved the resolution by voice vote.
With the contract complete, staff will move forward on final inspections, closeout documentation and any warranty-period oversight required under the agreement. The commission did not amend the contract amount beyond the stated change-order deduction during the meeting.
