Board approves financial items, special-education transfers and clarifies absentee ballot process

The board approved manifests totaling $2,898,949.18. Dr. Elizabeth Sheckler moved the motion to approve manifests and Mr. Williams seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The minutes record the manifest total as presented.
Superintendent Caroline Arakelian presented four Special Education budget transfer requests; after discussion about the need for contracted services and the difficulty of predicting student needs, the board approved all four transfers (motion by Dr. James Manning, second by Mr. Williams). The board also approved a fundraising request from Kingswood Regional High School to support the alpine ski and hockey programs.
During the Chairperson’s report members raised constituent concerns about understanding the absentee-ballot request process. School Board Clerk Michelle Capone explained procedures for Wolfeboro residents (absentee ballots requested from the Wolfeboro Town Clerk; hand-delivery to the SAU office if received by 5:00 p.m. the day before voting or mailed so they are received at the post office by 5:00 p.m. on election day) and stated that residents of other district towns should request absentee ballots from their town offices and return them to their town offices under the same deadlines.
The board also confirmed that it will publish voting locations and times for the district towns. The meeting adjourned at 9:42 p.m.
