The Lower Pottsgrove Township Authority voted unanimously on June 8 to accept a 36-month electricity contract capped at a fixed price of $0.074 per kilowatt-hour.
Manager Edward C. Wagner presented a comparison of recent pricing after the Authority’s contract with Constellation ended. Wagner said Constellation had previously been at $0.069/kWh, PECO at $0.116/kWh and Shell Energy at $0.072/kWh; the proposal the Authority approved capped the price at $0.074/kWh for a 36-month term. Board members discussed why contract terms vary and how rates change with length of commitment.
Joseph McGeehan moved to accept the 36-month contract capped at $0.074/kWh or less; James Toth seconded and the motion passed 4-0.
