RRVT Phase updates and planning advance; state trail grant application nearing completion

Director Curt Cable updated the Dallas County Conservation Board on R R V T project progress and near-term planning steps, reporting construction closeouts and the timeline for Phase V design and grant decisions.
Cable said Change Order #4 for RRVT Phase IV reduces the ARPA-funded project total by $1,388.25; the board approved the change order and authorized signing of the Phase IV final pay application. He shared photos showing berm grading at Bridge D and said that work is on track for an August target.
Preliminary design work for Phase V is expected to be completed the following week; Cable said the project will likely be presented to the Board of Supervisors and the City of Adel in August. Most of the State Recreational Trails grant application is complete and will be submitted by the end of the month, with funding decisions expected by October.
Cable summarized other trail-related items: a Capital Improvement Plan project to repair trail cracks between Redfield and Adel is budgeted not to exceed $100,000; Snyder has already marked sections needing immediate repair. If approved by the Board of Supervisors, a trail intersection study could begin at the end of July at an estimated cost of $22,000, to be paid from the Bike Trail fund.
Next steps identified in the minutes include release of an RFP for a master trails plan after July 14, proposals due Aug. 28 and a staff review slated for September, with recommendations to follow.
These updates position the RRVT work to move from construction closeout into design and funding steps this summer and fall, subject to external grant decisions and approvals from the Board of Supervisors and municipal partners.
